Hi All,
I have just purchased a Sony Vaio VPCEA1Z1E laptop that has a built in Blu Ray drive and a HDMI output.
I bought it so that I could watch Blu Ray films on my HDTV but I seem to be having a problem with the sound output.
The laptop is running Windows 7 and I am using Corel WinDVD that came bundled with the laptop.
When I try and play a Blu Ray movie on my TV via the HDMI cable the picture is fine and there is sound output on the TV during the splash screen and also during the Blu Ray menu's for the film but as soon as I select play and the movie starts I cannot hear any sound.
If I turn on commentary then that is played through the TV but still no sound from the actual film.
If I change the sound output to my laptop speakers then the sound is fine but it is just an issue over the HDMI cable.
I have tried various different settings but I cannot get this to work.
I have read about HDCP causing problems and I was wondering whether it is something to do with this? I have also read posts where people say to get the sound from the headphone jack on the laptop but I would rather sort it out so it goes via the HDMI cable directly to the TV.
Can anyone offer any help or advice on this issue?
